The Assembled Parties, Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike, Lucky Guy (play), The Testament of Mary (play)[edit]

Note to Scheduling admin There are 6 alternatives here. The original multiple hook and ALT 5 both only name the nominees of an award, which is generally a type of hook that is failed as too dull. ALT1-ALT4 all refer to a non-trivial fact, that also makes the hook eligible to be the main image. This is the type of hook that would likely make the All-time page view leaderboard for reasons presented below if scheduled as a main hook in accordance with the date request. I am not demanding that this be a main hook, but just calling this to your attention since there is a lot of text to get lost in below.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 15:19, 2 June 2013 (UTC)

  • It has come to my attention that since the four nominees got nearly 25k hits last year without any of them being featured in hooks at DYK to my knowledge and that since main hooks get about 3 or 4 times as many view as other hooks, that if we can get the foursome as a main hook, we might have the first 100k hook. This might be a bit of a shoehorn, but feel free to make a suggestion.
(ALT1)... that Lucky Guy, which is recently-deceased Nora Ephron's last play and Tom Hanks' (pictured) Broadway theatre debut, is along with The Assembled Parties, The Testament of Mary and Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike, a nominee for Best Play at the 67th Tony Awards?--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 05:23, 7 May 2013 (UTC)
(ALT2)... that Lucky Guy, which is recently-deceased Nora Ephron's last play and Tom Hanks' (pictured) Broadway theatre debut, along with The Assembled Parties, The Testament of Mary and Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike, are the four nominees for Best Play at the 67th Tony Awards?--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 05:23, 7 May 2013 (UTC)
(ALT3)... that recently-deceased Nora Ephron's last play and Tom Hanks' (pictured) Broadway theatre debut, Lucky Guy, is, along with The Assembled Parties, The Testament of Mary and Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike, a 67th Tony Awards Best Play nominee?--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 05:23, 7 May 2013 (UTC)
(ALT4)... that the four Best Play nominees at the 67th Tony Awards are The Assembled Parties, The Testament of Mary, Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike and Lucky Guy, which is recently-deceased Nora Ephron's last play and Tom Hanks' (pictured) Broadway theatre debut?--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 11:15, 22 May 2013 (UTC)
If worse comes to worse, we could just show off that we have new articles for all four nominees:
(ALT5)... that the four Best Play nominees at the 67th Tony Awards are The Assembled Parties, The Testament of Mary, Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike and Lucky Guy?--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 11:40, 22 May 2013 (UTC)
P.S. if this hook is approved, I would like to cancel Template:Did you know nominations/Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike and Template:Did you know nominations/Lucky Guy, which frees up 2 QPQs from Template:Did you know nominations/Out of the Grey (The Dream Syndicate album)--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 05:58, 2 June 2013 (UTC)
P.S.S. I am not sure how many QPQs I need. On some of these articles I basically just did the awards table. Does that make me an involved editor or are some of the self-noms? If I need a 4th QPQ use my 9th and final credit against Template:Did you know nominations/Ashtabharya et. al..--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 06:14, 2 June 2013 (UTC)
ok I am confused, this was begun May 1 - are we counting it as a new or a 5x expansion from some point? It is a great idea to have all four plays in one hook. Hook is cited....article looks ok, except can we please explain why/what/how the person is "off medications" - it is a weird nonsequitur as is. FWIW my preference is for ALT5...I feel a bit uneasy about giving one undue weight given it's an awards night...but maybe I am being a bit overcautious. • These are all suppose to be new. As noted in my P.S. above, I started to do a couple of separate ones. Those were nominated at DYK in time for newness, and I want to merge them into this single nom. Maybe I should have put this on one of those pages. I am not sure. If there is no policy way to roll hooks together, then isn't there something about allowances (beyond 5 days) when hooks are in short supply as they have been in recent weeks?--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 07:11, 2 June 2013 (UTC)
  • In regards to ALT5, it is clearly the type of hook that is generally considered way too dull to be on the main page. Why do you prefer a hook that has no intriguing fact? I don't know about undue weight in terms of policy. Is there some policy that you can't have a picture of someone on DYK at the time they are in the news? I thought that is what we sort of hoped for. All of the most-viewed hooks of all-time had pictures on the main page when they were the most newsy.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 07:09, 2 June 2013 (UTC)

P.P.S. It has always been my experience at DYK that merely naming award winnners or nominees was a failing proposition for a hook. See another nominee of the same date request where Daniel Case (talk · contribs) makes this point.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 12:52, 2 June 2013 (UTC)

Very well, if no-one sees it as a problem, then I don't really mind. I don't have a strong preference for any other ALT hook. I can see it was nominated 5 days after beginning. Whoever loads it up can choose. Cas Liber (talk · contribs) 14:18, 2 June 2013 (UTC)
