The Bird Language[edit]

Created by Kingoflettuce (talk). Self-nominated at 12:55, 5 December 2018 (UTC).

  • Article is new enough and long enough. AGF'ing on the sources as I can't access and/or read them. No evidence of copyvio or plagiarism. Sorta interesting hook, but it might be too quirky given WP:DYKHOOK "If the subject is a work of fiction or a fictional character, the hook must involve the real world in some way." QPQ is OK. @Jo-Jo Eumerus: Thanks! Having had a number of similar hooks passed, I would say it should meet the "in some way criterion" -- after all, it is social commentary that "antagonises corrupt officials" (so this does not simply refer to plot). Kingoflettuce (talk) 02:21, 9 December 2018 (UTC)

  • I am confused by the QPQ. You wrote that there are serious problems with the article, yet you approved it anyway. This is not a proper QPQ. Yoninah (talk) 00:28, 25 December 2018 (UTC)

I wrote that I had reservations regarding the references but charitably took his word for it. The content itself seemed fine. Didn't think referencing style and other cleanup issues could have so huge a bearing. Kingoflettuce (talk) 04:41, 25 December 2018 (UTC)

Specifically I wrote "unfortunately this does not seem to be a DYK criterion". Happy to stand corrected Kingoflettuce (talk) 06:53, 25 December 2018 (UTC)
Articles that appear on the main page must satisfy all the Wikipedia guidelines as well as DYK criteria. If the grammar is atrocious, we don't promote it until it's fixed. If the referencing is confusing, we ask the page creator to fix it. Yoninah (talk) 13:58, 25 December 2018 (UTC)
My bad then, I didn't press him hard enuf, see his response "It does satisfy Wikipedia guidelines. Stop making trouble – you can't impose your own guidelines" and such Thanks for chipping in @Yoninah Kingoflettuce (talk) 07:49, 26 December 2018 (UTC)
  • The QPQ has been resolved. Restoring tick. Yoninah (talk) 22:38, 16 January 2019 (UTC)
