Interesting painting on good sources, offline source accepted AGF, no copyvio obvious. The image is licensed, and the crop shows better. In the hooks, I think we could pipe to the short common name to win space for saying more than the long title, such as the artist's name. I prefer the idea of the ALT, but am not sure that "are meant to be treated" is the best possible wording. The fact of the original hook is not yet in the article, or what did I miss? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 17:14, 5 October 2020 (UTC)
For ALT0, the end of the background section says that Frederick William commissioned Blechen to create the paintings at the cost of one thousand Taler. I just simplified it as "bought" for the hook.

I like ALT1a best, thank you! Sorry for missing "thousand" - looking for 1000. I prefer to avoid the money thing in an unfamiliar currency which would need some clumsy conversion. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 18:27, 5 October 2020 (UTC)
  • @Bait30: We need an inline cite after the sentence about them being an Orientalist trope to satisfy WP:DYK#Cited hook. Thanks, Yoninah (talk) 19:27, 11 October 2020 (UTC)
  • @Yoninah: I added a reference to a book by Boer which states 'Investigating the trope of the odalisque is a way of addressing questions that centre on the problem of stereotypical representations of the Orient, often focusing on women, within the Orientalist "tradition".'  Bait30  Talk 2 me pls? 20:20, 11 October 2020 (UTC)
  • Thank you. Restoring tick per Gerda Arendt's review. Yoninah (talk) 20:29, 11 October 2020 (UTC)
  • @Bait30: I have one more question. Even next to the image, it's not clear what odalisques are. I thought they were ornaments or something. Could we add a little more detail to the hook, like:
  • ALT1a: ... that the odalisques lounging around the tree in The Interior of the Palm House (detail pictured) were added as exotic objects, a common Orientalist trope? Yoninah (talk) 20:32, 11 October 2020 (UTC)
