Victor Vifquain[edit]

Created by Spirit of Eagle (talk). Self nominated at 00:37, 20 May 2014 (UTC).

  • Please go through the wording and look for paraphrasing. Some of it is a bit too similar for me, using the same phrases and words, check this for words you need to change. Second ref needs formatting, but is otherwise fine. Is ref three a reliable source? I can't find anything online saying that the creator Dr. John Schmale is an expert in his field, but it is a common name by the looks of it. Ref 4 doesn't look reliable, but is apparently published by the Military Times, who seem reliable, however, you may want to replace it with [1] which looks less amteurish. Perhaps a little more info (e.g. date) on his medal and life? [2] Expanding such information is optional for DYK though, so please just fix the refs and paraphrasing. Thanks for the review. I’ve gone over the article several times and eliminated as much direct wording as possible. The majority of duplicate wording picked up by the app after my revisions are official names or short phrases such as “the Confederate” in sentences otherwise unrelated to each other. As for sourcing, I switched out source 4 and corrected the citation error in source 2. For source 3, I found a work by Julius Sterling Morton containing the same information about the events for which Vifquain was awarded the Medal of Honor. I’ll be expanding Vifquain’s biography section soon, but I wanted to post the corrections I’ve made. Spirit of Eagle (talk) 20:34, 24 May 2014 (UTC)
Copyvios fixed, sources fixed, QPQ not needed (bot down but as far as I can tell under 5 noms), do you want this nom to be posted ASAP, or after you have expanded? Thanks, Matty.007 11:32, 25 May 2014 (UTC)
I'd like to expand this a bit before it gets posted on the Main Page. I would prefer if this was posted sometime around June 1st, which would give me plenty of time to expand. Thanks. Spirit of Eagle (talk) 15:51, 25 May 2014 (UTC)
I would advise you to post a notice on WT:DYK about wanting this on the main page on June 1. They like 5 days notice to make that happen, since main page hooks are sometimes lined up days in advance. — Maile (talk) 17:03, 25 May 2014 (UTC)
Maile66: I think you're misunderstanding. As far as I can tell, SoE just wants to hold this whilst they expand the article a bit, and gave 1 June as around when they will probably finish expanding. I don't think there's a problem with that SoE, so please go ahead (just don't delay too long). Best. Matty.007 17:19, 25 May 2014 (UTC)
Thanks for clearing that up for me. — Maile (talk) 17:23, 25 May 2014 (UTC)
Ok, I've added some more information about Vifquain's life and expanded the description of the actions that led to his Medal of Honor. I'll probably make some more edits in the coming days, but I'm ready for this nom to be posted.Spirit of Eagle (talk) 04:07, 26 May 2014 (UTC)
As far as I can tell the expansion hasn't induced any errors, so good to go, AGFing on book as I can't read the bit it supports due to a limited preview. Thanks, Matty.007 11:38, 26 May 2014 (UTC)
