2 QPQs forthcoming

Jesse James (treasurer), Warren G. Harding (Texas politician)[edit]

  • Reviewed: IOU 2 QPQ
  • Comment: April Fools Day, please. I nearly have 400 DYKs and haven't yet gotten in on the April Fools chicanery. James is a full 5x expansion. Harding was 869 characters of prose prior to my expansion, so a full 5x is 4,345, and right now the article is 4,301. I'll keep working on it to see if I can make a full 5x, but hopefully it's close enough that we can let these pass even if it's still a little short.

5x expanded by Muboshgu (talk). Self-nominated at 20:49, 6 February 2019 (UTC).

  • My crystal ball predicts you'll get no mercy on the 5X requirement, but ALT0 is my kind of hook (ALT1 is worthless) so if you can't get to 5X let me know and I'm sure I'll come up with some bullshit to pad the article with. Bullshit's my middle name. Also, I've added ALT2 -- less is more. EEng 21:36, 6 February 2019 (UTC)
  • EEng, good point re "less is more" (as I said, it's my first April Fools submission). I'm culling Alt1. Harding at this exact moment is a 4.949x expansion. Maybe I can find that last 0.051x, but maybe not. It should be close enough. I'd pass an article that rounds up to 5x. – Muboshgu (talk) 21:44, 6 February 2019 (UTC)
  • Just added enough to get it to 4,452, or 5.123x expanded. – Muboshgu (talk) 21:51, 6 February 2019 (UTC)
  • Both articles meet DYK requirements. Hook fact is mentioned in both articles and cited inline. Prefer that ALT2 be approved due to the element of surprise (it's for April Fools after all), so striking ALT0. Good to go for AFD (April Fools that is, not Articles for Deletion). Suggested tweak to ALT2:

ALT2a: that Jesse James eliminated Warren G. Harding? Gatoclass (talk) 02:49, 27 March 2019 (UTC).

beat, trounced, creamed, shellacked... EEng 02:52, 27 March 2019 (UTC)
Hmm, not sure if you are proposing those as alternatives, but as James was known for shooting people (rather than just beating them up), "took down" seems to me a better fit. Gatoclass (talk) 03:01, 27 March 2019 (UTC).
I wasn't thinking of the shooting angle, but anyway I don't think of take down as particularly meaning shooting. Eliminated? Rubbed out? EEng 03:23, 27 March 2019 (UTC)
They both look viable, I'm just not sure which one I prefer ... Gatoclass (talk) 07:09, 27 March 2019 (UTC).
Warren Harding sleeps within the fishes? EEng 08:31, 27 March 2019 (UTC)
Not getting the connection there, and besides, that's only half a hook. Gatoclass (talk) 10:00, 27 March 2019 (UTC).
I'm playing with you [1]. EEng 13:24, 27 March 2019 (UTC)
My sense of humour is somewhat blunted after the usual struggle to copyedit this year's AFD hook crop I guess. Anyhow, I've gone with "eliminated" as the best option - thanks for the assistance with this one. Gatoclass (talk) 03:09, 28 March 2019 (UTC).
  • @Yoninah:, oops, sorry. I forgot about them. I'm busy today, but may be able to provide two later tonight. You can count on me catching up with these two. – Muboshgu (talk) 15:51, 31 March 2019 (UTC)
