William T. Vinton

  • ... that future state senator William T. Vinton was sent to jail for contempt of court when he refused to sign a city paving contract, but was later vindicated by an Oregon Supreme Court decision? Source: In a Daily Capital Journal article, titled "Vinton is Not in Contempt of Court Decision Rendered" published on 24 June 1913, it says Vinton was held in contempt of court “for his failure to sign a paving contract when ordered to do so by the court.” According to the article, “W. T. Vinton, mayor of McMinnville, was today released from custody by the ruling of the state supreme court.”
