Template:Find military sources/doc

This template produces a series of links to various reliable sources and search engines to help find additional reference material for articles on military topics. It is designed for talk pages and should not be used in articles themselves.

Usage[edit]

  • {{find military sources}} – the article title is used by default as keywords for the search queries
  • {{find military sources|your search keywords}} – specify your own search query in positional param one

Parameters[edit]

The template takes one optional positional parameter:

|1= search keywords for the query. default: the article page name.

  • InfoPlease – online dictionary, encyclopedia, and almanac.
  • LoC – Library of Congress
  • SSI–USAWC – Strategic Studies Institute – United States Army War College: geostrategic and national security research and analysis from the U.S. Army War College. Studies, monographs, forecasts.
  • Mil Hist Encyc – Military History Encyclopedia on the Web: Original content with articles, maps, unit histories, and book reviews. Focus on WW1, WW2, the Napoleonic Wars and the American Civil War.
  • H-WAR – H-Net's forum on world military history for military historians and other scholars
  • Avalon – The Avalon Project, Documents in law, history, and diplomacy at Yale Law School.
  • JSTOR – Full-text search of academic journals
  • Hathi – Hathi Trust Digital Library
  • ASP – Alexander Street – Curated primary source collections including previously unavailable content.
  • archive.org – Internet Archive (wayback machine) – archived web pages and books.
  • Google books – books from Google's digitized corpus
  • WP Library – The Wikipedia Library, open research hub for Wikipedia editors enrolled in The Wikipedia Library

Note on styling[edit]

This template generates output in Html inline-level element context, and so may be used with all the normal in-line wiki markup to alter the font style. For example:
