This template is a version of {{Cast indicator}} designed for articles related to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

Usage

{{MCU cast indicator}} creates a formatted cast list indicator and legend for MCU-related articles that contain a cast list table.

Syntax

List indicator(s)

This section includes characters who will appear or have appeared in more than two films in the series.

• A dark grey cell indicates the character was not in the film, or that the character's presence has not yet been confirmed.
• A ⁶¹⁷ indicates the character is an alternate version from Earth-617.
• An ⁸³⁸ indicates the character is an alternate version from Earth-838.

• An ^A indicates an appearance through archival footage.
• A ^C indicates an uncredited cameo role.
• A ^DS indicates the character appears in a digital series.
• An ^MC indicates a motion-capture-only role.
• An ^MS indicates the character appears in a Marvel Studios television series.
• An ^MT indicates the character appears in a Marvel Television series.
• An ^OS indicates the character appears in a One-Shot.
• A ^P indicates an appearance in onscreen photographs.
• An ^SP indicates the character appears in a Marvel Studios Special Presentation.
• A ^V indicates a voice-only role.
• A ^Y indicates a younger version of the character.

Use {{ref|reference name|parameter name}} in the cast table, using the reference and parameter names provided below.

If |type= is set to film, the additional indicators are the following:

This section includes characters who will appear or have appeared in more than two films in the series.

• A dark grey cell indicates the character was not in the film, or that the character's presence has not yet been confirmed.
• A ² indicates the character reappears in Phase Two.
• A ³ indicates the character reappears in Phase Three.
• A ⁴ indicates the character reappears in a Phase Four film.
• A ⁵ indicates the character reappears in a Phase Five film.
• A ⁶ indicates the character reappears in a Phase Six film.

If |type= is set to either MS TV or MT TV, the additional indicators are the following:

This section includes starring cast members, recurring characters, and notable guest stars, as defined by the FAQ.

• A dark grey cell indicates the character was not in the season, or that the character's presence has not yet been confirmed.

• An ^F indicates the character appears in a film.
• A ^G indicates a guest appearance in the series.
• An ^R indicates a recurring role in the season.

MT TV has two additional parameters:

This section includes main cast members, recurring characters, and notable guest stars, as defined by the FAQ.

• A dark grey cell indicates the character was not in the season, or that the character's presence has not yet been confirmed.
• A ² indicates the character reappears in a season or series that released from 2018–2019.

• An ^M indicates the actor was part of the main cast for the season.

MS TV has one additional parameter:

• A dark grey cell indicates the character was not in the season, or that the character's presence has not yet been confirmed.

Template parameters

Parameter			Description

Type	type	—	Either film, MS TV or MT TV. Each makes its respective additional indicators available. MS TV and MT TV change certain words from film to season.
Tense	tense	—	Either future tense will appear or past tense have appeared. The default is will appear or have appeared.
Appeared	appeared	—	Alternate text following the line This section shows characters that will or have appeared in. The default is either more than two films in the series, which is the customizable text.
Media	media	—	Alternate text for film in the lines the character was not in the film and more than two films in the series.
Earth-617	617	617	Indicates the character is an alternate version from Earth-617.
Earth-838	838	838	Indicates the character is an alternate version from Earth-838.
Archival footage	A	archive	Indicates an appearance through archival footage.
Cameo role	C	cameo	Indicates a cameo role.

Marvel Studios	MS	marvelstudios	Indicates an appearance in a television series produced by Marvel Studios. Not available for |type=MS TV.
Marvel Television	MT	marveltv	Indicates an appearance in a television series produced by Marvel Television. Not available for |type=MT TV.
One-Shot	OS	oneshot	Indicates an appearance in a One-Shot.
Photograph appearance	P	photo	Indicates an appearance in onscreen photographs only.
Special Presentation	SP	special	Indicates an appearance in a Marvel Studios Special Presentation.
Voice-only role	V	voice	Indicates a voice-only role.
Younger version	Y	young	Indicates a younger version of the character.
Phase Two	2	phasetwo	Additional indicator for |type=film. Indicates a character reappears in Phase Two.
Phase Three	3	phasethree	Additional indicator for |type=film. Indicates a character reappears in Phase Three.
Phase Four	4	phasefour	Additional indicator for |type=film. Indicates a character reappears in a Phase Four film.
Phase Five	5	phasefive	Additional indicator for |type=film and |type=MS TV. Indicates a character reappears in a Phase Five film or series.
Phase Six	6	phasesix	Additional indicator for |type=film. Indicates a character reappears in a Phase Six film.
Netflix series reappearance	2	2	Additional indicator for |type=MT TV. Indicates a characters reappears in a Netflix season or series that released from 2018–2019.
Film appearance	F	film	Additional indicator for |type=MS TV and |type=MT TV. Indicates a character appears in a film.
Guest appearance	G	guest	Additional indicator for |type=MS TV and |type=MT TV. Indicates a character makes a guest appearance in the season or series.
Main cast	M	main	Additional indicator for |type=MT TV. Indicates the actor was part of the main cast for the season or series. Similar to S for |type=MS TV.
Recurring role	R	recurring	Additional indicator for |type=MS TV and |type=MT TV. Indicates the actor had a recurring role for the season or series.
Starring cast	S	starring	Additional indicator for |type=MS TV. Indicates the actor was part of the main cast for the season or series. Similar to M for |type=MT TV.
