The template is used to display information about persons associated with the Russian Academy of Sciences in various periods of its existence. When specifying the year of assignment of rank in the template-card of the article, the abbreviated name of the Academy of Sciences in this period is indicated:

• Full Member of the Academy of Sciences of the Russian Empire (1724—1917). The template automatically places an article in the Category:Full Members of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
• Full Member of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (1918—1991). The template automatically places an article in the Category:Full Members of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
• Full Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences (1992—present). The template automatically places an article in the Category:Full Members of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
• Corresponding Member of the Academy of Sciences of the Russian Empire (1724—1917). The template automatically places an article in the Category:Corresponding Members of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
• Corresponding Member of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (1918—1991). The template automatically places an article in the Category:Corresponding Members of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
• Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences (1992—present). The template automatically places an article in the Category:Corresponding Members of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

The template is intended for use as a part of template-cards {{Infobox person}}, {{Infobox scientist}} and similar.
