About this template[edit]

This template is the project banner for WikiProject Cue sports.

The template is to be placed on talk pages (only) of the articles identified as being within the project's scope (at or near the top of the talkpage).

This template automatically assigns one or more subcategories of Category:All cue sports pages including snooker to the articles' talk pages. This category and other associated project categories are used in various ways by the project in the overall management of the project's workload.

Usage[edit]

General syntax options for this template are as follows:

{{WikiProject Cue sports|class=|importance=}}

The parameters are named, and (if used) must be entered exactly as-is (note, all are lowercase).

The class and importance parameters are associated with the project's article assessment and rating scheme. These parameters add the talk page to a category; which category depends on the values given.

Other parameters can be added to further classify the article and change the template's shape. Full syntax options for this template are as follows:

{{WikiProject Cue sports |class= |importance= |attention= |needs-photo= |needs-infobox=}}

This template is completely compatible with Template:WikiProject banner shell and similar wrappers.

Parameter values[edit]

Quality class assessment[edit]

This optional parameter records the project's quality assessment rating currently assigned to the particular article on whose talkpage the project banner appears.

If unassessed, or an invalid value is given, the parameter defaults to "unassessed" and the template places the talkpage into Category:Unassessed cue sports articles.

Valid values for this parameter, their associated meanings and categories are given in the table below. Values should be typed as shown (e.g. |class=GA ):

Importance (priority) assessment[edit]

The |importance=value parameter records the project's priority assessment rating currently assigned to the article. When this banner appears on the talk page of a non-article, no class value need be applied.

On an aritcle talk page, if the value is unassigned, an invalid value is given, or the class parameter is set to "NA", the parameter defaults to "unassigned" and the template places the talkpage into Category:Unknown-importance cue sports articles.

Valid values for this parameter, their associated meanings and their categories are given in the table below. Values should be typed as shown (e.g. |importance=Mid):

Importance parameter values (Category:cue sports articles by importance)
Value Meaning Category
Top Topics that are among the most important, defining articles on cue sports. Examples include the main article on cue sports, vital equipment, international governing bodies and leagues/tours/associations, game rules, current world championships (overview article), this year's article on the world championships, current pro world champions. Top-importance articles are often selected for Wikipedia CD/DVD release. If the project has more than a dozen or so Top-importance articles, consider moving some to High-importance. Top-importance cue sports articles.
High Topics that are of certain but not crucial importance in cue sports. Examples include former pro world champions, pro world championship top-16 contenders, current amateur world champions, major international events (overview articles), high-profile dedicated venues, game variants, detailed stand-alone articles on aspects of cue sports. Low Article of limited importance in cue sports. Examples include previous years' annual event articles, and marginally notable players/teams, venues, events, etc. Media (TV shows, films, books, etc.) relating to cue sports usually also fall into this assessment level (for this project - a film, etc., project might rate the article higher). Low-importance cue sports articles

Attention parameter[edit]

The optional |attention=yes parameter marks the article as needing immediate attention and shows this on the banner, and it also adds the article to Category:Cue sports articles needing attention. This parameter should be used if the article is in very bad condition.

Other features[edit]

Various other parameters are also available (see Template:WikiProjectBannerMeta for documentation of parameters; this template supports most of the available ones):

  • |needs-image=yes - non-bio article needs an illustrative image (at all, or to replace a bad one); for bios use {{reqphoto|cue sports people}} after the project banners at top of talk page
  • |needs-infobox=yes - article needs an infobox template that provides summary details regarding the subject

Using such a parameter will add the article to the appropriate cleanup category.

Example[edit]

The most common usage for new articles (other than stubs, which would use |class=Stub instead):

{{WikiProject Cue sports|class=Start|importance=Low|needs-photo=yes|needs-infobox=yes}}
