Template:WikiProject Westerns/doc

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The {{WikiProject Westerns}} project banner template should be added (not subst:ed) to the talk page of every article within the scope of the project.

Syntax[edit]

Basic[edit]

{{WikiProject Westerns|class= |importance=}}

Expanded[edit]

{{WikiProject Westerns
  | class= (FA, FL, A, GA, B, C, Start, Stub, List, Cat, or Template)
  | importance= (High, Mid, Low, NA)
  | listas= Last, First
  | needs-image= <yes/no>
  | television= <yes>
  | Film-task-force= <yes>
}}

Parameters[edit]

Note: all parameters are optional.

  • class – valid values are listed in the custom class mask. See the project's quality scale for details. Setting an explicit value of NA is rarely necessary; for this, either leave |class= blank or omit the parameter.
  • listas – This parameter, which is the equivalent of the DEFAULTSORT sortkey that should be placed on all biographical articles, is a sortkey for the article talk page (e.g. for Maureen O'Hara, use |listas=O'Hara, Maureen so that the talk page will show up in the O's and not the M's of the various assessment and administrative categories; similarly, for topics with titles beginning with an article such as "the" or "a" - e.g. for The Medico of Painted Springs, use |listas=Medico of Painted Springs, The so that the talk page will show up in the M's). This is important because it is one source used by those who set DEFAULTSORT on the article; consider also setting the DEFAULTSORT for the article when setting this parameter. For more information about this, please see Wikipedia:Categorization of people § Ordering names in a category.
    If the article is using {{WikiProject banner shell}} then it is preferable to add |listas= to that template instead of a project banner template. Putting the parameter on more than one template is not required.
  • needs-image – set |needs-image=yes to request that an image or photograph be added to the page.
    • type – overrides the default text (image or photograph); also used to categorise the request.
    • details – additional text to insert before the words "be added to this article" to describe the subject or type of image that is requested.
    • This parameter populates Category:Westerns articles needing images.
    • location – use in conjunction with |type= to override the above and instead categorise the request into either Wikipedia requested types in location or Wikipedia requested photographs in location.
    • topic – use in conjunction with |type= to categorise the request into either Wikipedia requested types of topic or Wikipedia requested photographs of topic.
  • television – set |television=yes includes article in the Westerns Television task force. Only set this if it is a parameter if the article belongs in the Westerns (genre) Television task force.
  • category – set |category=no if, and only if, a banner is being used for demonstration or testing purposes, to prevent unnecessary or undesirable categorization. Otherwise, omit this parameter.
