About this template[edit]

After several AfD and related debates regarding AWM images I decided to make this template to track AWM images, and to bring to one place all discussion regarding these images.

The AWM's position from Their copyright page and email from the AWM to Nick Dowling 6 January 2006 is that it allows the use of images from its online database whose copyright has expired for non-commercial purposes only on the condition that the AWM's watermark is not removed. Higher resolution images may be ordered through the AWM (Source: email from the AWM to Nick Dowling 6 January 2006).

According to the Australian Copyright Office - it would appear that faithful reproductions of copyright expired images are not subject to the protection of new copyright. Therefore the images in question are public domain and do not have to retain any watermarks. However the AWM should be acknowledged as the source of the image.
