Colour Assignment[edit]

How are the colours for various parties chosen? Some of the choices made for this list appear to be inappropriate.

For example, the colour assigned to the right-wing party Pauline Hanson's One Nation is very similar to that assigned to the centre-left Australian Labor Party as well as those assigned to the various left-wing socialist parties on the list. I doubt any of the latter would consider it appropriate to assign One Nation a similar shade to their own parties, as though they were somehow related.

In the example just given, why isn't the party's colour as shown on the party's main page used instead? If that colour is already assigned to another party, at the very least shouldn't a similar shade be used rather than one chiefly associated with a group of political factions it disagrees with?

Include the newly-registered party: Indigenous-Aboriginal Party of Australia

There abbreviation is Indigenous Party of Australia. There colours, as far as I can see from there website, are green and orange/yellow. MarioBayo (talk) 13:25, 30 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The party is now formally recognised in AU. Per their www.indigenouspartyofaustralia.com homepage: "29 November 2021 - WE ARE OFFICIALLY A REGISTERED POLITICAL PARTY". (h/t MarioBayo}). To update at enwiki:
Name
"(The) Indigenous-Aboriginal Party of Australia" homepage website, header
"Indigenous - Aboriginal Party of Australia" AEC (aus govt)
Todo: add/check to {{Australian politics/name}}.
Registered Abbreviation
"Indigenous Party of Australia" (AEC) -- it is common at AEC to not have initials abbreviation
Todo: add this abbr to /name list
Party colors
The website (including merchandise page) does not show explicit party colors. Basic colors used on the website:
#344734    #F1AA42  (green is from {{Indigenous-Aboriginal Party of Australia/meta/color}}). The website orange RGB is slightly different from what is used in the infobox, edited.
Flag
The File:Australian Aboriginal Flag.svg is used. No changes.

Done: added name and "abbr" (short name) to /name template [1]. See documentation listing for result check. @MarioBayo: -DePiep (talk) 06:30, 3 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Done also adjusted hardcoded colour in {{Australian politics/party colours}} to use the dark green [2]. -DePiep (talk) 06:42, 3 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@DePiep: thank you for adding the Indigenous-Aboriginal Party to the template. When you add a party to the templates, please add them as a new line rather than overwriting an existing party as you did with this edit which breaks every link to the existing party. Cheers --Find bruce (talk) 07:01, 3 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Yes I saw, I thought the new party name was a replacement but I found out. -DePiep (talk) 07:03, 3 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

A change in the colour of the Australian Federation Party from #950818 to #538A2E to better match the party's current branding. Jamisonedd (talk) 00:53, 30 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Could all the 'Independent Liberal' templates - or at the least the one that is "Independent Liberal" (linking to the federal Liberal Party) change so it links to "Independent Liberal (Australia)"? Still displaying "Independent Liberal" Totallynotarandomalt69 (talk) 04:45, 6 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think this template generates any links, it just sets the background colour. Please confirm the links which need fixing? — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 07:24, 6 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
you know what? you're absolutely right, that's my bad - request retracted! Totallynotarandomalt69 (talk) 07:41, 6 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Template-protected edit request on 28 June 2023[edit]

Could the following templates change their colour to #ED0B21? This keeps the Independent Labor/Labour categories in line with the same colour as Labor/Labour - just as Independent Liberal is the same as Liberal and Independent Greens are the same as Greens

- independent labor - independent labor act - independent labor nsw - independent labor nt - independent labor qld - independent labor sa - independent labor tas - independent labor vic - independent labor wa Totallynotarandomalt69 (talk) 06:53, 28 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

As per: https://www.vec.vic.gov.au/candidates-and-parties/registered-political-parties/currently-registered-parties Democratic Labour Party (DLP)/Labour DLP are officially registered in Victoria. Template provides for: "DLP" in Teal colours. "DLP QLD" (Teal) "Democratic Labor" (Orange) "Democratic Labour" (Orange) "Democratic Labour Party" (Orange)

Can we please have an entry for "Labour DLP" as this is what they primarily identify themselves as. And to standardise the colour, I suggest #fccc04 (another Orange) from their logo.

Currently it is #008080 (Teal) and #ffb536 (Orange) in Template:Australian_politics/party_colours Fazwazzle (talk) 08:02, 4 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Not done: this is the talk page for discussing improvements to the template {{Australian party style}}. Please make your request at the talk page for the template concerned. This template transcludes {{Australian politics/party colours}}, an extendend-confirmed-protected template. To edit that template, this request should be made at Template talk:Australian politics/party colours, where it can be discussed if necessary. Change the colour for The Local Network from #1C81C7 to #F76388 in line with their new logo/name: https://www.localnetwork.au/ Totallynotarandomalt69 (talk) 00:03, 16 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Not done for now: The new color you suggest, #F76388, is  , which does not seem to compare with the logo color on their website. Editor Totallynotarandomalt69, how exactly did you come up with the color hex codes? P.I. Ellsworth , ed. put'er there 18:27, 17 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Looking now it appears they've changed the colour on their website/logo since I initially made the edits
Can I request a change to #E0058C instead? Totallynotarandomalt69 (talk) 23:54, 17 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, that would be   and appears to be a match to the website's logo. I would like very much to grant your request, but I still have two questions, my previous question about how you are determining these hex codes and a new question: if as you say the logo has changed color just since you initially made the edits, what is stopping them from changing it again soon? Seems we should wait for a stable option. We don't need to be coming back to this and updating this template every few days. P.I. Ellsworth , ed. put'er there 16:29, 18 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Technically nothing to stop them but it seems unlikely - their initial colour code I grabbed a day or two after their name change to Local Network where the website was still a bit of a mess
This new colour code is in their logo and right throughout the website making me think they're sticking with it. Totallynotarandomalt69 (talk) 21:06, 18 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Now I'm confused. Guess you want to change "The Local Party" to "The Local Network"? and the color listed at "Template:Australian politics/party colours" is #0081C8  , not #1C81C7  ? So I'm not sure how to proceed. Am I missing something? P.I. Ellsworth , ed. put'er there 17:23, 19 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I think I've confused myself too, apologies, so let me try to make it clearer:
Change colour for The Local Party template (noting that the party has since been renamed to The Local Network however not competed at an election under that name yet) to #E0058C from #0081C8
I don't believe I can do this? Falls under party style not colour, which is template protected Totallynotarandomalt69 (talk) 21:06, 19 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Actually you know what, happy to withdraw the request - apologies Totallynotarandomalt69 (talk) 21:16, 19 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
As you wish. If you look at the edit screen for the style template, the colours are governed by a meta template, {{Australian politics/party colours}}. That template is extended-confirmed protected. You received the tools to edit that template this past May. Best of everything to you and yours! P.I. Ellsworth , ed. put'er there 01:09, 20 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
And by the way, the party colours template is only extended-confirmed protected, so you should be able to edit it. P.I. Ellsworth , ed. put'er there 17:29, 19 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
