Blue Ridge class based on LPH class?[edit]

I was stationed on a LPH amphibious helicopter ship in the 1980's. I can't help but notice the Blue Ridge class amphibious ship has a similar hull design. Does anyone know if they used the LPH hull as a basis for the Blue Ridge design? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 148.165.17.120 (talk) 08:30, 9 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Possible Answer[edit]

According to U.S. amphibious ships and craft: an illustrated design history By Norman Friedman, the Blue Ridge class was based upon an LPH hull with modifications.
