Extra closing div tag[edit]

I can't get this template to work.

There is always an extra closing div tag in the /box-header code even though it's not there when I edit the page (I check the source after editing the page). This causes all the content to be outside of the box. I've struggled with this the last few days. I followed the directions listed here. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I tried to use this concept on my wiki, but encountered this "div" tag problem. After some analisys, I found out that the /box-header opens a "div" tag and never closes it. On the other hand, the /box-footer closes a "div" tag without ever opening it. I figured out that it's made on purpose, so that everything that goes in between those templates, stay inside a box. In my case, when the page is rendered, I see a floating "/div" tag and the content outside the box. That's because something (...and I'm not sure what) closed the "div" tag on the /box-header, making the last "/div" on the /box-footer mismatch the intended structure. But that's only on the rendered article. The code behind it remains the original. I found out a topic on the web about it, but haven't tried this solution (http://www.mwusers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3958). Anyway, I'm still looking for an easier solution.

Two-column devolution to one-column on small, mobile screens[edit]

I've switched the hardcoded 'float: left; width: 55%' and 'float:right; width: 44%' to use the portal-column-left and portal-column-right classes I added to MediaWiki:Common.css (per note on Wikipedia Talk:WikiProject Portals). These devolve nicely to single columns on narrower screens in browsers that support CSS3 media queries and on the mobile interface, as long as nothing else on the page forces things to be wide.
