May 2020[edit]

Why does this even exist? Are site specific templates a thing now?

Also why use an ambiguous abbreviation instead of the words cite box office mojo? -- 109.76.216.69 (talk) 02:21, 27 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Almost a year later the template was renamed, another unnecessary abbreviation that never should have been used in the first place is gone. -- 109.78.201.221 (talk) 01:18, 17 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

date formatting[edit]

Should not this template recognize date-formatting templates (such as {{use dmy dates}}) to automatically give the proper output? — Fourthords | =Λ= | 18:52, 30 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Remove publisher[edit]

Not sure why this needs a separate template but the automatic publisher part needs removing. You don't need to include publisher in a website cite and it stands out on Featured Articles when no other cite has a publisher included. No, The purpose of this template is used to cite box office information and summary, with consistency per Special:WhatLinksHere/Template:Cite BOM. Chompy Ace 14:22, 9 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Edit request 17 April 2022[edit]

Please merge changes from sandbox to live, https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special%3AComparePages&page1=Template%3ACite+Box+Office+Mojo&page2=Template%3ACite+Box+Office+Mojo%2Fsandbox

Have added Edit at Wikidata button, added categories for whether id is same, different or missing at Wikidata, and added Wikidata to error message Indagate (talk) 13:01, 17 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The error messages are displaying poorly on the testcases page. Please adjust the sandbox to display error messages in a reasonable way. (Example: "Template missing ID and not present in Wikidata Missing or empty |title=") Also, "Template missing ID and not present in Wikidata" does not parse for me; what are you actually trying to say about Wikidata? – Jonesey95 (talk) 20:46, 17 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for responding @Jonesey95, trying to reflect Template:IMDb title now Wikidata can be used for the id field after edits to live version today by @Zyxw, I amended error message for no ID to say that an ID can be entered manually or at Wikidata by copying it from Template:IMDb title, error message would only show if neither has id. Zyxw changed the rule for the error, I changed error message. Have now removed title error now template uses PAGENAMEBASE Indagate (talk) 21:02, 17 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Please post here when the error messages are displaying reasonably on the testcases page. – Jonesey95 (talk) 23:40, 17 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Please clarify what reasonable would be? Seems clear to me Indagate (talk) 05:54, 18 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
"Template missing ID and not present in Wikidata" does not make sense to me, and it is missing terminal punctuation. What is missing in Wikidata? The template? The ID? Make it clear. How does an editor fix this error? The template's documentation does not make it clear how Wikidata is involved. – Jonesey95 (talk) 13:15, 18 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hey, have changed error message to "ID is missing in both template and Wikidata, please add to either place.", example below of templates that use version you said is unclear so can be changed if this is better, with sandbox of this template at bottom
{{Max title}} template missing ID and not present in Wikidata.
{{Metacritic film}} template missing ID and not present in Wikidata.
{{Rotten Tomatoes}} template missing ID and not present in Wikidata.
{{AllMovie title}} template missing ID and not present in Wikidata.
{{Mojo title}} template missing ID and not present in Wikidata.
"Cite Box Office Mojo". Box Office Mojo. IMDb. ID is missing in both template and Wikidata; please add to either place.
Have updated documentation. New tracking categories are part of additions in sandbox, should populate automatically Indagate (talk) 14:10, 18 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Done. Now I see what the message was trying to say. That is much clearer. – Jonesey95 (talk) 15:22, 18 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you Indagate (talk) 15:57, 18 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
