By the way, I have a Triniton-based CRT monitor at home (circa 2000), and last I checked, the images I uploaded for Adobe Atmosphere (some of which were marked with this template) appeared just fine. – Minh Nguyễn (talk, contribs) 03:36, 30 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

ClearType might work on some Triniton monitors, but it certainly does not on most other CRTs and TFT with their RGB elements arranged in a different order. —Ruud 15:06, 26 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Right, the important thing is that ClearType rendering needs to be done for the specific arrangement of RGB elements on the viewing device, and there are many common arrangements (some display technologies can't support it at all, like printers and color wheel-based DLP projectors). Therefore it has to be done with knowledge of the display, which we certainly don't have if we serve up one raster screenshot. — brighterorange (talk) 15:46, 26 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
