Template talk:Dashboard

Page contents not supported in other languages.
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This administrative dashboard was designed to assist admins in focusing their efforts whilst wielding their mop and bucket. Feel free to transclude the page, or copy all or part of the page for your use. All I ask is that you leave the hidden link[1] intact so that I can get an idea on how many people are using[2] the dashboard. New features can be requested below. A more comprehensive version[3] of this dashboard can be found at {{admin dashboard}}.

Features[edit]

 • When there are any attack pages or users looking for help, or when the candidates for speedy deletion category exceed 50 (i.e. backlogged), those rows will turn red
 • When there are empty or user requested candidates for speedy deletion, those rows turn green (because you can usually "GO" ahead and delete them ;>)

Feature requests[edit]

 • I've added the category to the 'see also' list. Hope this is ok. PhilKnight (talk) 18:45, 30 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
 • Meh, as long as the category is receiving more exposure I'm happy, it's hard work clearing it out and it's frequently backlogged so it could really do with as much exposure as possible. Cheers, Jeffrey Mall (talkcontribs) - 20:35, 30 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Notes[edit]

 1. ^ Hidden link: [[User:Xenocidic/dashboard/users]]
 2. ^ Who's using it? (linking it?) (talking about it?!)
 3. ^ This "light" version was adapted by PhilKnight

Addition proposal[edit]

Can we add

|-
| [[:Category:Requested edits#Pages in category|Requested Edits]] || {{PAGESINCAT:Requested edits}}

to the page so that coi requested edits are listed? Ryan Vesey Review me! 12:49, 21 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Done. PhilKnight (talk) 18:15, 21 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Since you are okay with doing that, I'm going to move them to put them with the other ones. Ryan Vesey Review me! 18:15, 21 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I didn't realize semi-protected ones aren't on here too, should we add that? Ryan Vesey Review me! 18:17, 21 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I've got User:AnomieBOT/PERTable on my watchlist. This shows exactly which pages currently have an unanswered {{edit protected}} or {{edit semi-protected}}. --Redrose64 (talk) 19:11, 21 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Correction: User:AnomieBOT/PERTable covers only unanswered uses of {{edit protected}}. For unanswered uses of {{edit semi-protected}}, see User:AnomieBOT/SPERTable; that may also be watchlisted. --Redrose64 (talk) 15:47, 11 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for letting me know. I like to help out with edit requests when I remember. But I'll go a long time without looking at them. Seeing them in my watchlist or on my userpage makes sure I get them corrected. I think the fact that {{edit request}} edits aren't on the table is a big reason why there are requests from early this month in that category. Ryan Vesey Review me! 19:29, 21 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I think adding the semi-protected ones as well is a good idea. PhilKnight (talk) 19:42, 21 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Done Should I go ahead and make the same change as proposed on Template talk:Admin dashboardRyan Vesey Review me! 19:47, 21 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
It's up to you, but my advice would be to wait until 24 hours after posting on the talk page. PhilKnight (talk) 22:10, 21 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

A bit new design[edit]

I have designed a new version of the dashboard it looks almost the same but has an additional feature. It is located here (not anymore) Can someone review it please. @PhilKnight: VarunFEB2003 (talk) 17:15, 16 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I dont see why not. -- Moxy (talk) 21:21, 16 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, why not? PhilKnight (talk) 22:43, 16 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
So should I do it?Please see once more i have made another change. Thnaks you @Moxy: and @PhilKnight: VarunFEB2003 (talk) 09:47, 17 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Done keeping your votes in mind i am making the changes VarunFEB2003 (talk) 12:43, 17 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Subpage Created - A subpage had to be created to work VarunFEB2003 (talk) 13:02, 17 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Dame got an email asking me why the time is wrong...I guess time may not be a good thing as editors are in many different time zones. -- Moxy (talk) 13:33, 17 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@Moxy: I think we can add the word UTC out there. It should display centralized time aint'it?? VarunFEB2003 (talk) 12:43, 19 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Why would we display that time for all? --Moxy (talk) 18:26, 19 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@Moxy: Ok i have a new version here - User:VarunFEB2003/Test without the time VarunFEB2003 (talk) 12:47, 20 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@Moxy: I have made the changes. Please check them once. VarunFEB2003 (talk) 09:15, 22 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I prefer including as few elements in this dashboard as we can. It's much easier to transclude the dashboard and another template than to somehow hide an element already in the dashboard.
For example, if an experienced editor doesn't want a link to the help desk in the middle of their dashboard, with this latest update, they have to add a parameter to hide it. Ditto with the calendar, the bright purple box, and the borked layout. I understand there was already consensus for this update. Varun, Moxy, or PhilKnight - perhaps reconsider? Enterprisey (talk!(formerly APerson) 16:44, 9 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Wait - To all I shall add that parameter you are asking give me a few days I am having my exams in 2-3 days I'll do it. Don't revert it immediately please. Thanks Enterprisey VarunFEB2003 I am Offline 10:41, 10 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
It's been nearly two weeks. I've removed the part substantially duplicated by {{Calendar clock with Wikipedia stats}}. Enterprisey (talk!(formerly APerson) 02:15, 24 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
