Fact check[edit]

"… that during the first public reading of Wolfdietrich Schnurre's short story Das Begräbnis, part of the audience left the room in protest?"

… is not generous with context, but at least got me to click. What the article says, however, is "During Gruppe 47's first public reading in Seeheim-Jugenheim in April 1948, some people in the audience left the room during the reading of Schnurre's text." and, below, "The reaction was different at a reading to Protestant pastors in '1947' in the Berlin consistory." (bolding added). It's hard to tell whether what was meant was that the 1947 was in some sense 'non-public', or merely that the work hadn't yet been read in Seeheim-Jugenheim, or that it was the first Group 47 sponsored reading. de:Gruppe 47 helps clear things up a little; I'd suggest instead:

"... that at the first formal meeting of Gruppe 47 part of the audience walked out in protest during the reading of Wolfdietrich Schnurre's short story Das Begräbnis?"

Sparafucil, thanks for the feedback, it's much appreciated. While this was, to my knowledge, indeed the first public reading of das Begräbnis, the only other one that's mentioned in the literature being the one in front of the select pastoral audience, you are correct that the hook should have explicitly stated that this was the group's first public reading. I'm not sure whether I'd call this the "first formal" meeting though – while the first meeting may be called informal in the sense that the group's name didn't exist yet, I wouldn't call the third meeting more formal than e.g. the second one, with the main difference being that it was the first public one. My sincere apologies for the error here – and thanks again. Best, Blablubbs|talk 11:16, 16 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I hesitated about "formal": "at Gruppe 47's first public reading … in protest during WS's story" is better. Happy to have been of help, and rather for me to thank you for the excellent article! Sparafucil (talk) 21:28, 16 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
