Orientation[edit]

Why is this drawn with south at the top? Seems very odd. --Redrose64 (talk) 19:52, 7 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

But what would you do for a line that runs east-west?
Reason is fairly simple: you read down the page, so you follow the line from its start at Barnstaple down to its end at Ilfracombe. This would have been drawn before any guidelines had been worked out relating to orientation. Feel free to invert it if you wish. -- EdJogg (talk) 00:31, 8 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
