Template-protected edit request on 22 April 2021[edit]

If Limited or 1shot are set to N, the auto-categorization is still happening. See A Game of Thrones (comics) for example. It is auto-categorized as all three Limited, Ongoing, and One-shot. Template probably uses the logic if populated with anything instead of if populated with Y or Yes. I assume that the same holds true for cases where "Ongoing=N", but that's an assumption.

I'm not sure which is better, but the logic should probably make exception to cases where the parameter is N or No, -OR- only perform action if the parameter is Y or Yes. I don't know if anyone might populate the parameter with a year or something. – 2pou (talk) 04:28, 22 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I suspect the reason the format options are separate parameters is because some comic titles have been available in more than one format (Locke & Key, for example, is a metaseries that has some chapters in limited series and others in one-shots). I'm not sure the current structure is what I'd use if I designed the infobox from scratch, but it seems the best move forward would be to add a note to the Template page explaining that it shouldn't be populated unless it's true. @Argento Surfer: To be clear, does that mean you oppose doing this? It would be fairly straightforward (using {{yesno}}) to make the template not categorize based on falsy values. * Pppery * it has begun... 01:00, 18 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
If it's easy, I don't oppose. Argento Surfer (talk) 13:43, 18 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Done I went with only ignoring falsy values (currently defined as, case insensitive, "no", "n", "f", "false", "off", or "0") on the grounds that doing so would be less likely to break things. * Pppery * it has begun... 00:24, 19 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

. Please update "ISSNT" to new template name "ISSN link". This is basically the only place left where that redirect is used. AManWithNoPlan (talk) 21:07, 13 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Also change 'space' to 'spaces' since that is the preferred template name also. AManWithNoPlan (talk) 21:25, 13 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
To editor AManWithNoPlan: are these redirects broken? The first one is still used in a few comics articles, and the guideline tells us not to "fix" redirects that are not broken. P.I. Ellsworth , ed. put'er there 00:36, 14 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
The guidelines say to avoid just fixing them for the sake of fixing them, but they also say that they can be cleaned up as part of a larger clean up. AManWithNoPlan (talk) 00:54, 14 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
And I've been cleaning them up for many years. Cleaning them up consists of ensuring their correct targeting and categorization; it does not include bypassing them when they are in good working order. These redirects are used in articles. If they were used in navigation templates, then that would be a good reason to bypass them. If not, then it's never a good idea to "fix" what's not broken. There are still lots of other areas on Wikipedia that need improvement. Thank you very much! P.I. Ellsworth , ed. put'er there 01:02, 14 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
ISSNT is not used anywhere but this template - the few pages that use it get it from this template . AManWithNoPlan (talk) 01:49, 14 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Is that justification to ignore the community consensus in the editing guideline? P.I. Ellsworth , ed. put'er there 01:52, 14 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Anthologies[edit]

Hello, I apologise if I am asking in the wrong place. But I am doing work on British anthology titles and was wondering if I could suggest/request a field similar to "main_char_team" which fits with story titles rather than characters. Many anthology titles have regular characters that are better known by the name of their strip than the character name, or have an ensemble cast, and outside of superhero-type comics these names can often be non-descript and hard to summarise.

For example, in Crisis (British comics) the main character of "Third World War (comics)" is Eve Collins, but putting that in the infobox would require additional explanation like 'Eve Collins (Third World War)' which seems a bit clunky, whereas others could result in a list of characters from several strips where a simple strip name would otherwise make it clear.

Is it possible to request some sort of "main_stories" parameter that displays Main stories (I'm not sure we'd need a singular as it would only be for anthologies) for these cases? Many thanks BoomboxTestarossa (talk) 12:15, 25 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Additional positions[edit]

I'm a fan of a comic book series that has a credited role — editorial assistant — that isn't contemplated by infobox and doesn't fit neatly into any of these fields. How can I add it in? Petey05 (talk) 20:03, 28 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Not all roles need to be noted, and an editorial assistant isn't "notable" enough to justify including in an infobox. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 16:21, 29 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
