Kanji[edit]

It seems to me that the kanji are arguably redundant, unhelpful, unwelcome? I simply raise the question as a way of soliciting constructive feedback? --Tenmei (talk) 19:35, 20 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Quite redundant. Remember that we are creating an English dictionary, and few people will benefit from the Japanese. Those few that need it can get it from the linked articles. That is also the recommendation of WP:MOS-JA. Regards, Bendono (talk) 13:24, 22 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Aha -- I will delete them per WP:MOS-JA. --Tenmei (talk) 23:05, 23 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Structural flaw[edit]

I must have done one of more things wrong when I created this template using {{Monarchs of Japan}} as a model. I notice that there is set of a lower case letters at the top left --

v • d • e
"v" = view? ... "d" = display? ... and "e" = edit?

However, the "v" is still red, and when I click on it, it's as if no template had been created. Although the "d" and the "e" are blue, clicking on the "e" reveals an unexpected problem.

In summary, the "v" and the "e" have something wrong with them. I don't know how to figure out how to fix these minor problems.

The first step was posting my dilemma here. The second step was to cross-post at WP:WikiProject Templates.

See Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Templates#Not sure what's wrong?.

Now what ...? --Tenmei (talk) 00:04, 24 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I fixed it. The name argument was pointing to a different page. Bendono (talk) 00:16, 24 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Switching Groups 7 & 8[edit]

The initial draft of this navbox was organized so that Group 7 (the Southern Court nengō) appeared before -- hence above -- Group 8 (the Northern Court nengō).

As a general rule, "North" almost always appears above "South" in conventional maps -- even in the antipodes; and the succession boxes at Kemmu and Meitoku similarly position the nengō of the Northern Court above those of the Southern Court.

Doesn't it makes sense that this template, appearing as it does on every article about a Japanese era name, should mirror the format of the Nanboku-chō period succession boxes?

This is the reason for an otherwise obscure edit. --Tenmei (talk) 04:25, 2 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
