The name of the language

There's been edit-warring, changing the name of the language back and forth between "Franco-Provençal" and "Arpitan". I've done a little of it myself, favoring "Franco-Provençal", and yesterday I changed this template to give the name "Franco-Provençal". But I checked and found that "Arpitan" is more widely used: Google says it has 6,840,000 hits, vs. 756,000 for "Franco-Provençal". Google's numbers are notoriously unreliable, but for me the clincher was that Ethnologue – the language reference website of SIL, the Registration Authority for ISO 639-3 – uses "Arpitan" as the primary name. I don't really care much either way. However, Ethnologue is a great database for poorly-researched languages, but it often doesn't reflect scholarly use. In linguistics, Arpitan is rarely used (it is mainly used by language activists, usually from areas where the language is barely spoken anymore), Franco-Provençal or Francoprovençal are the terms used by linguists. See for example the Centre de dialectologie et d'étude du français régional of the University of Neuchâtel, which is the main institution involved in research of the language in Switzerland. --Terfili (talk) 03:53, 30 January 2016 (UTC)

Agreed with both. And as the Wiki article itself is called Franco-provençal, I believe this template should be moved - both should have the same title. As a compromise solution, we could go for Francoprovençal without the hyphen, which was the first change made by those who didn't like the original title for saying it made it sound like a blending of two languages instead of one real independent language.
