The Template:Wikidata redirect should only be added if {{{wikidata-r}}} is specified or if the page is linked to a Wikidata item. This is necessary to avoid that these pages are added to Category:Unlinked Wikidata redirects. --PhiH (talk) 09:12, 24 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Not done: All of these have Wikidata entries, some are not connected for whatever reason. I am going through the category and manually connecting them, I intend on possibly running a bot (after approval) or semi-automated process to speed this up. The ones not connected to an item should be tracked. Elliot321 (talk | contribs) 10:12, 24 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, if that is the case, the category serves its intended purpose. --PhiH (talk) 10:49, 24 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Elliot321: While I was going through Category:Unlinked Wikidata redirects I noticed some astronomical object with more than one redirect. There are many astronomical objects that just have to be linked and fit into the category but there are cases where the error can't be fixed. For example both (2832) Lada and 2832 Lada use the NASTRO comment and refer to the same object. This means that there will always be one page not connected to the Wikidata item which remains in the category. Maybe a separate tracking category only for this template would be useful. --PhiH (talk) 16:46, 5 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Potentially. What we really need is a convention for these overall. I'm currently working on redesigning {{wikidata redirect}}, so I think this will have to wait until after that.
I'd say that say, either 2832 Lada is the proper name, or (2832) Lada is, in which case one should have {{NASTRO comment}}, and the other should have {{R avoided double redirect}}. Having both of them with the comment doesn't make sense. Elliot321 (talk | contribs) 18:13, 5 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@PhiH, Elliot321 – As of February 2022, Category:Unlinked Wikidata redirects has been cleaned-up. Aplologies for the spamming of said category with 1900+ minor-planet redirects that were not connected to Wikidata when {{NASTRO comment}} was introduced. FYI, my edit comment/documentation of this clean-up is: link minor-planet redirect to Wikidata item (T42). Last revised item was 48070 Zizza. Also courtesy ping to Tom.Reding

As for the (2832) Lada vs. 2832 Lada issue, I don't think there is a problem at all, as there must only be one "primary" (proper) redirect. Additional, secondary redirects don't display the comment when {{NASTRO comment}} includes a |do-not-cat=yes parameter. (2832) Lada was created incorrectly. During my category clean-up, I did not encounter any duplicated redirects—not a single one. Rfassbind – talk 15:16, 24 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks you very much for cleaning that up! --PhiH (talk) 17:02, 24 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
