simultaneous |date= and |year=[edit]

This template has a couple of large {{#switch:}}s that assign a value to {{cite map}} parameters |date= and |year=. These switches overlap in some places; this case for 2011:

Ohio Department of Transportation (June 2011). Official Ohio Transportation Map (PDF) (Map). c. 1:570,240. Columbus: Ohio Department of Transportation. OCLC 5673562, 31884639.

When there is an overlap, both |date= and |year= are assigned a value. Module:Citation/CS1 checks the content of these two parameters and if the both contain the same year will add the page to Category:CS1 maint: Date and year. Except in rare cases, there is no need to assign values to both |date= and |year= in a single cs1|2 template. I propose to combine the two {{#switch:}}s into a single {{#switch:}} that provides a value to |date=.

Objections?

The overlapping issue has been fixed by removing the redundant years where there are fuller dates. to be used Imzadi 1979  19:21, 12 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
