RenMenBi[edit]

No article refers to {{RMB}}. I would like to repurpose this template to display Renminbi (Chinese currency commonly abbreviated as RMB). See Wikipedia talk:WikiProject China#Currency template for more details.  Stepho  (talk) 08:04, 31 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

That is because the template must be substituted. When closing a requested move {{subst:RMT}} is added to the top and {{subst:RMB}} is added to the bottom of the discussion. Because they are substituted no pages link to it. Alpha Quadrant talk 13:59, 8 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for the note. Is it possible to have this template repurposed officially. The official ISO 4217 code for the Chinese Yuan is CNY but it is almost unknown to the general population by that code. It is most commonly rendered as RMB in English text - even in Chinese, RMB is an extremely commonly rendering.  Stepho  (talk) 09:41, 10 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I've asked for input from WT:RM , WT:CHINA the nuministics and finance wikiprojects as well. It seems like real world usage should trump Wikipedia local jargon. 65.93.12.101 (talk) 04:49, 11 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
