Designation[edit]

{{editprotected}} I'm not happy with the phrase "Designated heir:". In the case of the British throne and peerages (where I noticed it), the succession is automatic, not depending on anyone to designate the heir. Actually, we only use the parameter for automatic successions, so this makes for a pretty bad choice of words. However, a better one must be found if we are to change it, so I am listening to suggestions.

By the way, there is a parameter, "heir-type", where one can write "Heir apparent" or "Heir presumptive" and that will be displayed instead of the standard heir message ("designated heir"). It is mentioned in Template:S-start#S-inc, but I suppose I ought to add it here as well. See Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom for an example of its use. That makes sense to me. "Heir" is the simplest and likeliest to fit all cases.
