Extraneous carriage returns[edit]

User:SMcCandlish (and anyone else): In Reverse-contrast typefaces#The first reverse-contrast types the selfref inline template is generating extra carriage returns between the template-enclosed content and the remainder of the quoted passage. I'm afraid I can't figure out how to fix the problem—would you please be so kind as to take a look at it? —DocWatson42 (talk) 04:27, 14 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Not sure, right off-hand. It's probably an issue with {{Selfref}}, since {{Selfref inline}} is a very simple wrapper. I note that the former is using <div style="inline" ...>. I would think that should work, but something in the parser may be not playing nice with it, and I'm pretty sure that <span ...> would work. Going to test something in the sandbox.  — SMcCandlish ¢ 😼  05:11, 14 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@DocWatson42:. Still don't know what broke it, but I've worked around it by using {{Hatnote inline}} as the meta-template instead of {{Selfref}}.  — SMcCandlish ¢ 😼  05:27, 14 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@SMcCandlish: Thank you—that looks much better. ^_^ —DocWatson42 (talk) 05:29, 14 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
