Today[edit]

I just came across this template today. I'm really not sure it's going to work out. Have a look at the List_of_New_York_state_parks. Most of these offer camping. What's more, two parks on the list, the Adirondack Park and the Catskill Park offer more than a dozen campgrounds each (see, for example, North-South Lake, which is in the Catskill park). It just seems to me that this template will become unmanageable it it gets anywhere near complete. -- Mwanner | Talk 18:24, 16 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hmm... or maybe I was just thrown by the inclusion of the Saint Regis Canoe Area. Looks like everything else is a private summer camp. If that's what's meant, just ditch the SRCA. A rename might be in order, though. There are also roughly 200 private campgrounds (not summer camps) listed in DeLorme's, few if any of which are ever likely to have a Wikipedia article.

Note that "Camp facilities" is pretty vague to begin with-- one could include the Adirondack Great Camps, many of which deserve an article (though I think there are few if any now), but that are really a different animal than what is listed here. I see you've got some year-round camps listed, so I guess summer camp doesn't work. What about "New York sleepaway camps"? -- Mwanner | Talk 18:29, 16 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I have removed the Saint Regis Canoe Area from this template, as per the above. I still feel that this should be renamed, or, if no one is going to work on adding the hundreds of other private campgrounds, deleting it. In any case, it makes no sense to keep the SRCA, which is not, primarily, a camping facility. (Note: it's also not in Plattsurgh). Mwanner | Talk 17:46, 23 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Red links...[edit]

Bit confused as to why we've got redlinks in this template - would anyone object if I took them out? Failedwizard (talk) 21:00, 18 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
