- Per MOS:DONTHIDE, Collapsible templates should not conceal article content by default upon page loading. This includes reference lists, tables and lists of article content, image galleries, and image captions. [Links excluded]. @Sbmeirow: My concern is which articles this template is intended to be included on. Some editors, including myself and User:Cristiano Tomás, often delete presidential election results tables when they are included on US city articles. Magnolia677 (talk) 22:40, 7 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Such tables are intended to be on US county articles. I would also guess that any municipality that has such reliably-sourced history may include a table (and am unimpressed by WP:NOTDIRECTORY arguments), but I don't believe firm consensus exists about non-county articles having the tables. – John M Wolfson (talk • contribs) 23:09, 7 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I use WP:NOTSTATS when I delete from city articles. Some items for inclusion in US city articles have gone to RFC (see here and here), and I suspect this one will as well. It seems that @ErrorDestroyer: has made auto-collapsability possible on a particular page, which I have discouraged on the header docpage per MOS:COLLAPSE. Apologies, I should have checked the talk page before proceeding with this change. That said, I think there are cases where this functionality makes sense to have; I mainly implemented it because with the table left open on Sitka, Alaska it extended too far down into the subsequent section for my liking, and I'm sure similar examples exist elsewhere. With regards to MOS:DONTHIDE, I tend to treat that as a general guideline rather than a binding rule since I've noticed a substantial improvement to page display on my 13" screen for municipal pages with collapsed weatherboxes.
