Reference notes[edit]

From the Walter Engines history page [1]

  • Company known as Motorlet between 1949 and 1995.
  • 'Avia' not mentioned in company history?

Tricky one! Nimbus (Cumulus nimbus floats by) 19:47, 12 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The Walter piston engined designs were transferred to Avia in 1964, and again to Letecke Opravny Malesice (LOM) in 1992 - see the "LOM Engine History" part of [[2].Nigel Ish (talk) 20:29, 12 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Great, it is a bit complicated this one, I'm really not good with the Czech products but I recognise the names, without reading them I would guess that Moravan and Let Kunovice feature here somewhere. There are loads of photos of the M701 on commons, begging for an article. Cheers Nimbus (Cumulus nimbus floats by) 20:40, 12 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
And it is a company called 'Parma Technik' that is making the Mikron now.[3] according to the LOM site, all useful stuff. Nimbus (Cumulus nimbus floats by) 20:48, 12 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
The complication is that most of these companies were originally part of Czech state industries , with work between parts as necessary - When the Piston engines business was moved from Walter to Avia, it was moved from control of the aviation industry to the car industry. The transfer to LOM appears to have happened when Avia's propellor business was sold off. I'm not sure from [4] whether LOM is still making Avia/Walter piston engines or notNigel Ish (talk) 21:06, 12 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
All useful stuff, I found this [5] which helps a bit. I wonder if we should paste this all over the Walter Aircraft Engines talk page, empty at the moment. The WP:CZ article is helping a bit but the language is very difficult to understand! Nimbus (Cumulus nimbus floats by) 21:26, 12 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
