Hello! Recently, the parameter |Animated= was added to the {{WikiProject Film}} template, in order to include articles in the Animated films work group. I have started to add the parameter to talk pages, however the articles are not being added to the project with the proper classification, since the Film project does not use the |importance= parameter. Therefore, they are showing up on the assessment table for animated films as "Other". I understand that this is unique, because it's technically a work group of the Animation project, but none of the other Film task forces use importance.

I wonder if a script can be added, something that would make film articles default to the value of |film-importance=, if present on the {{WikiProject Animation}} template, and default to "NA" if the parameter is not present. Because if an article has both the {{WikiProject Animation}} and {{WikiProject Film}} banners, the table should ideally reflect the value of the |film-importance= parameter on the Animation banner. The /importance subtemplate for a WikiProject banner defines a custom scale - the default being top/high/mid/low/NA/unknown. This one exists to allow one additional level: "bottom". Redrose64, I no longer think that linking the two templates is the solution. I know it probably seems like I'm harping about this, but I'm sure that there is a simple solution to how there articles are classified, in regards to the assessment table for animated films. There should be a way to make the |film-importance= parameter on the {{WikiProject Animation}} banner take precedence, if both the Animation and Film banners are on the same article. If the article only contains the Film banner with the |Animated= parameter, or if the |film-importance= does not have a value, then the importance of the article on the assessment table should default to "NA". Not done: That is not the purpose of the /importance subtemplate for a WikiProject banner. All it can do is switch on or off certain importance levels for the WikiProject banner that it is a subpage of (please see the documentation at Template:Importance mask). Template:WikiProject Animation/importance controls the permitted importance levels of Template:WikiProject Animation; Template:WikiProject Film/importance, if it existed, would control the permitted importance levels of Template:WikiProject Film.
