Image[edit]

I think I preferred the old image, I reckon it just worked better in the template as it was an easily recognisable landmark. I think the new one is too small to work out easily at first glance, but I didn't want to just go ahead and revert. What do others think? Driller thriller 16:07, 2 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I probably should have mentioned it somewhere on the page, but as a replacement to the City of London image (which didn't really represent London as a whole), it was decided to use the current Portal:London showcase picture as the image of London for that month, updating the image each month. Hence last month was the photo of the Gherkin, but obviously there is a new one this month. DJR (T) 20:08, 2 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
O God, yeah, I'd seen that in your edit summary when you did it. Just forgot it, my fault. A good idea, by the way. Thanks for the explanation. Driller thriller 20:32, 2 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Missing function call[edit]

Resolved
 – Missing {{lc:}} inserted so that param importance= is case-insensitive.

I think the following line in this template:

{{#ifeq:{{lc:{{{class|}}} }}|na||{{#switch:{{{importance}}}

should instead read:

{{#ifeq:{{lc:{{{class|}}} }}|na||{{#switch:{{lc:{{{importance}}} }}

I noticed this while adding TWP assessments on Talk:Ealing Common tube station and noticing that it was still sorted into Category:Unknown-importance London-related articles. Slambo (Speak) 17:37, 4 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Indeed, true indeed. I've fixed it as you suggested, and checked your example page was now correctly sorted. If there are other simple troubles, please note that the template is only semi-protected, any regular editor can change it; myself, I only fixed it this summer because I found it very broken and undocumented, but I'm not its creator or maintainer ;-) — Komusou talk @ 18:03, 4 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please add a parameter for WikiProject London/Public art[edit]

Per the discussion at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Public Art § Conversion into task force, could a parameter for WikiProject London/Public art please be added to this template? The desired change has been mocked up in the sandbox so it would be a matter of copying and pasting the code from there. Ham II (talk) 08:47, 25 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Ham II: I note you also changed the formatting of the London districts task force in the sandbox. Was there some consensus for that? * Pppery * it has begun... 17:39, 26 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
 Done the other tweaks looked uncontroversial — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 06:34, 28 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Template-protected edit request on 23 October 2022[edit]

Change current TF_2_NAME parameter to |TF_2_NAME = Public art task force

And add |TF_2_TEXT = This article is supported by '''[[Wikipedia:WikiProject London/Public art|the public art task force]]'''.

Apparently, using customised name conflicts with other automated processes, so reverting back to default, and adding another parameter, so it all remains the same on the reader's end. CX Zoom[he/him] (let's talk • {CX}) 19:07, 23 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

 Question: In what way does it conflict? Please link a discussion where this has been brought up. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 20:34, 23 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Per meta:Community Tech/PageAssessments, ...on English Wikipedia, it would be embedded in the WPBannerMeta template. and The parser function would use the following syntax: {{#assessment:<name of the wikiproject>|<class>|<importance>}}... Apparently the name parameter of task force is to be used for assessments. Secondary to it, even if weren't the case, the change would aid in consistency with the current TF_1 parameters. CX Zoom[he/him] (let's talk • {CX}) 22:01, 23 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Please show where in Template talk:WPBannerMeta (or its archives) that we were informed of this. It's going to be a massive change, not confined to Template:WikiProject London, so I don't see why this one should be altered without proper discussion. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 23:13, 23 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Tbh, neither do I know nor do I care about the underlying code that keeps things running, all I want is that nothing breaks down because of me. The TF_2 parameters were all mocked up by me at the template sandbox, and if anything breaks I do not want any responsibility for that, so I believe it is much better if I can simply replicate the TF_1 parameters, which I know works fine, for TF_2 too. The requested change adds to the consistency in the code of the two TFs on this banner, and doesn't break anything extra. CX Zoom[he/him] (let's talk • {CX}) 00:28, 24 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Except that the sandbox is exactly the same as the live template], neither has been edited this month: you have not mocked up anything in the sandbox. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 19:56, 24 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
The TF_2 parameters were all mocked up by me at the template sandbox, on 31 August, with Special:Diff/1107788630. Compare with the revision id of the parent template as on that date to check what changes I attempted at the sandbox before done by MSGJ. CX Zoom[he/him] (let's talk • {CX}) 22:20, 24 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

 Done, there is no reason to decline this straightforward request. I changed your text slightly to make it consistent with the other task force. I assume you are okay with this — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 10:16, 25 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Parameter names[edit]

I suggest you look at the names of your parameters. Districts task force uses hyphens |london-districts-task-force= but public art is using underscores |public_art=. This could confuse editors — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 10:21, 25 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @MSGJ: I realised that just now, thanks to you. Please change them to the hyphenated version, as it is the longstanding one. This parameter, at the moment, is unused. So, changing shouldn't break anything. CX Zoom[he/him] (let's talk • {CX}) 18:26, 25 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Done — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 21:54, 25 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you very much! CX Zoom[he/him] (let's talk • {CX}) 07:53, 26 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@MSGJ: Can you please remove the |TF_2_TEXT = This article is supported by '''[[Wikipedia:WikiProject London/Public art|the public art task force]]'''. as I realised that it overrides the importance rating. See the banner at Special:Diff/1118492017, sandbox experimentation here at Special:Diff/1118492918. CX Zoom[he/him] (let's talk • {CX}) 08:43, 27 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
