Soad Hosny[edit]
Soad Hosny (January 26, 1943 – June 21, 2001) [1]is an Egyptian actress and singer named the "Cinderella of Egyptian Cinema".[2] In her 32 year long career, Hosny preformed in more than 83 films and a single TV series called "Hekayat Hwa we Heya".[3][2][4]

"Lilregal Faqat"[edit]
In 1964, she and Nadia Lutfi acted in the movie "Lilregal Faqat" (For Men Only), which discusses woman's ability to take on jobs that are stereotypically masculine. [5]In the movie, Soad and Nadia play the roles of two lab workers who report oil-wills locations based on samples they get from the desert. When the male workers in the desert don't find any oil in the locations reported by the two women, they disguise as men and go to the digging-site in the desert.[6][7][8]
"Hekayat Hwa we Heya"[edit]
"Hekayat Hwa we Heya" (The Stories of Him and Her) is a 1985 TV series that revolves around the relationships between the two genders and gender equality.[2][3] In the episode titled "Garas el Fusha", Soad perforemed one of her most popular songs, "elbanat elbanat " (Girls Girls).[9] This kids' song raised the equality slogan with phrases like "Girls are like boys" and "we are happy to be born girls", as it praised girls emphasising that they are smart, talented, strong, wise, beautiful, and kind...etc[10][11]
Other feminist aspects[edit]
In addition to her direct call for women's rights in some of her works, the Egyptian Cinderella's feminine lively personality, youthful soul, and kind heart encouraged girls to idolise her and gain pride in their gender.[12] In 2006, Mona Zaki played the role of Soad Hosny in the biography TV series Named "Cinderella"[13].Commenting on it in one of her interviews, Mona Zaki said that she was a tomboyish kid, and was shy of her feminine features at her early teens, but playing the role of Soad Hosny triggered her pride in being a woman, as it was a turning point in her feelings towards her femininity.[14]
