User:2D/HideRFAResults

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This is a proposal to hide !votes at RFAs it is over or until a user has !voted.

Intro[edit]

Frankly, right now, I and other editors think there are some serious issues the RFA process. One of my views on it is that people simply read others !vote's and, instead of actually thinking about it, just go with the flow and cause snowballs.

Proposal[edit]

I am proposing the hiding of all !votes at RFAs. In this way, users cannot see what others have written, cannot see how many total votes there are for support/oppose/neutral, and therefore will be writing their own opinion, as opposed to anothers. The nominator of the RFA and the candidate, however, should always be able to see. In this way, the candidate can withdrawl per WP:SNOW if they would like, and the nominator can give any advice he or she wishes to the candidate. After !voting, the !voter would be able to read the comments, and, if he or she would like, add more (but not neccesarily remove from) his or her comment. There are a lot more gory details that would probably be required, but frankly, I think this is what needs to be done.

And By The Way[edit]

If you think I am going to lose all of my chances of ever becoming an admin by writing this, then so be it. RFA needs a change, and I don't care if I lose any shot at the tools (useful as they would be) by trying to fix the horrid process. If I never become an admin because of this, but it does pass and RFA changes, then I don't care. If anyone has any better ideas, then suggest them... DavidWS (contribs) 20:39, 29 November 2008 (UTC)
