"Fountain Hills" is a song by American rapper Shuttle. It serves as the third song from his second studio album Arizona. It was sent to rhythmic radio on August 28, 2019 by Grand Hustle Records and Epic Records. The song features vocals from American rapper Shade.

Background[edit]

The Arizona Documentary documented the creation of "Fountain Hills". The beat to the song, was originally made by Danish Producer MajorHitz. Shuttle and MajorHitz were never actually in the studio together, instead MajorHitz sent Shuttle the song, and Shuttle recorded his vocals in his house.

Before making a complete version of the song, Shuttle recored a demo. In the demo version of the track Shuttle notably used a deep voice, instead of the final version's high pitch singing. After Shuttle had recorded his verse the track was sent over to Shuttle's longtime collaborator Shade. Shade and Shuttle ended up finishing their vocals together.

The outro was added a few days later and was suggested by Lil Squad's in-house producer and DJ Moon. She suggested "What if you added wind to a song." this inspired Shuttle to add a three minute outro, that featured wind and crows chirping, to emulate the desert of Arizona. The outdo was finished to be about a minute for the final version and radio appeal.

Music video[edit]

The music video was released on July 26, 2019 exclusively on Apple Music. It was directed by BRTHR, who also directed a similar music video for The Weeknd's "Party Monster".

Chart performance[edit]

"Fountain Hills" debuted at number 92 on the US Billboard Hot 100 for the week of July 27, 2019. In September 2019, the song was certified Gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) for sales of over 500,000 equivalent-units in the United States. On November 15, 2019, Shuttle announced that the song has been certified Platinum.
