From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Welcome to my sandbox! I am going to practice some formatting now. I can make words in bold and in italics and I can make links. Here's a link to one of my favorite web sites, where you can download free audio books: www.librivox.org

A summary of he five pillars of Wikipedia[edit]

1) Wikipedia is an online encyclopedia[edit]

  • Wikipedia is not a primary or secondary source of information. It is a tertiary source, a summary of information.

2) Wikipedia has a neutral point of view[edit]

  • Wikipedia is not a forum for posting personal view. It is a forum for posting unbiased, proven facts. If there is controversy over a topic, one must present both sides fairly.

3) Wikipedia is free content[edit]

  • You do not own anything posted to Wikipedia, nor should you post anything that is owned by someone else. No plagiarism or close paraphrasing and always properly cite your information.

4) Wikipedians should interact in a respectful and civil manner[edit]

  • We are all working for a common goal, but opinions may differ. Talk differences out and come to a consensus. No personal attacks on each other.

5)Wikipedia does not have firm rules[edit]

  • Wikipedia changes all the time. Don't be afraid to make changes because previous versions of pages are always available.

Summary of characteristics of target article[edit]

When completed, the target article for this project should have the following characteristics: The article should be clearly written and the original work of the article writers. It should avoid the appearance of plagiarism and not contain any paraphrasing that is close to the wording of any of the works referenced. Citations should be as clear, complete, and contain specific footnotes, just as one would use in any scholarly work. Articles should also, when completed, conform to the 5 pillars of Wikipedia, summarized above. Good articles in Wikipedia are clear, concise, unbiased, and do not contain original research. They are verifiable, properly referenced, and cover all the major aspects of the topic. If possible, images are great, though they should also be properly cited.[edit]

citing sources[edit]

I have been reading an article on the link between major depressive disorder (MDD) and circadian rhythms.Research suggests that transcription of hundreds of genes is controlled by circadian rhythms[1]. Patients diagnosed with MDD experience repression of transcription of genes regulated by circadian rhythms[2] Here's another article on the same subject[3][edit]
