Edith Jane Ballantyne (17 February 1849 - 8 December 1933) was a Scottish painter.[1]

Life[edit]

Edith's father was John Ballantyne (25 April 1815 - 12 May 1897) from Kelso. He was a painter and headmaster of the Drawing School in the Trustees' Academy.

Edith's mother was Christina Alice Hogarth (1825 - 7 March 1904) from Berwick. John and Christina married on 3 June 1846 at St. Peter's Church in Berwick.

Edith Jane was born in Edinburgh on 17 February 1849.

When her father moved south to London and Wiltshire, Edith followed with the rest of the family.
