Andrew Blair (19 January 1815 - 9 March 1892) was a Scottish painter.[1]

Life[edit]

His father was Alexander Blair (26 January 1786 - 13 June 1873) from Dunfermline.

His mother was Catherine Henderson (3 June 1791 - 7 May 1862) from Dunfermline. Alexander and Catherine married on 9 March 1814 in Dunfermline.

Andrew Blair was born on 19 January 1815 in Dunfermline.

He married Catherine Walls (14 November 1822 - 4 March 1906) on 15 April 1850 in Dunfermline.

He died on 9 March 1892 in Dunfermline. The value of his estate was given as £1053, 11 shillings and 6 pence.

From the Dundee Courier of Thursday 10 March 1892:[2]

DEATH OF A FIFE ARTIST. Mr Andrew Blair, artist, died his residence in Bruce Street, Dunfermline, yesterday morning. Mr Blair had been suffering from severe attack bronchitis, which was followed by acute pneumonia. The deceased gentleman exhibited pictures at various times in the Royal Scottish Academy, and also in the London and Manchester Exhibitions. Scottish scenery was his principal subject. He was 77 years of age.

He is buried in Dunfermline cemetery.
