Mary Fergus Carswell (12 August 1854 - 27 September 1934) was a Scottish painter.

Life[edit]

Her father was James Carswell (22 October 1806 - 1872), an artist from Glasgow.

Her mother was Margaret Wilson Fergus (c. 1816 - 18 April 1891) from Newcastle Upon Tyne, England. James and Margaret married on 29 April 1852 in Glasgow.

Mary Fergus Carswell was born on 12 August 1854 in Govan, Glasgow.

She married George Robert Dransfield (born c. 1858) from Newcastle Upon Tyne, at Partick, Glasgow in 1885.

Art[edit]

She exhibited her paintings from the address 2 Sardinia Place in Glasgow. 2 Sardinia Place is now 61 Cecil Street in Hillhead.

Death[edit]

She died on 27 September 1934 at Rydal Chase, Ambleside in Cumbria, England.
