Hugh Collins (1 April 1834 - 21 June 1896) was a Scottish painter.[1]

Life[edit]

His father was Daniel Collins (1796 - 4 November 1856), a factory wool spinner from Belfast, Ireland.

His mother was Mary Rae (c. 1801 - 12 November 1868) from Glasgow.

Hugh Collins was born on 1 April 1834 in Coalsnaughton, Clackmannanshire.

He married Janet Inglis Cock (c. 1837 - 12 August 1874) from Alloa on 31 December 1862 in Govan, Glasgow.

On Janet's death he remarried Jessie Lamond (born c. 1831) from Cargill in Perthshire. They married on 21 June 1875 in Monifieth, Angus.

He died on 21 June 1896 in Broughty Ferry at his home in Church Street.[2]
