William Caldwell Crawford (3 August 1879 - 8 April 1960) was a Scottish painter.[1]

Life[edit]

His father was William Caldwell Crawford [Snr] (2 December 1842 - 21 June 1918) from Glasgow.

His mother was Euphemia Maria Wilhelmina Grieve (29 July 1843 - 5 August 1879) from England. Euphemia was the daughter of David Greive. William [Snr] and Euphemia were second cousins: the bride-groom was the grandson of the late Rev. Robert Caldwell, Wick; and the bride was the grand-daughter of Robert Caldwell, a builder, from Edinburgh. They married on 21 May 1872 at the Ferns, Innellan, Argyll.[2]

Euphemia died two days after giving birth to William. William Caldwell Crawford [Snr] later remarried Isabella Alison Grant (c. 1848 - 17 July 1919) from Edinburgh. William [Snr] and Isabella married c. 1889 in Edinburgh.

William Caldwell Crawford was born on 3 August 1879 in Dalkeith.[3]

He married Janet Margaret Benson (1891 - 7 December 1861) from Corbridge in Northumberland, England. They married on 30 December 1913 in Edinburgh.

He died in an Edinburgh nursing home on 8 April 1960.[4]
