Francis Cruickshank (30 November 1829 - 7 May 1882) was a Scottish painter.[1]

Life[edit]

His father was James Cruickshank (29 May 1794 - 7 April 1874), a surgeon from Mid Calder, West Lothian.

His mother was Mary Calder (c. 1802 - 24 August 1859), from Carolina, USA. James and Mary married on 19 September 1823 in Edinburgh.

Francis Cruickshank was born on 30 November 1829 in Edinburgh.

He married Mary Ogilvey Spence (c. 1831 - 14 July 1873) from Edinburgh. They married on 3 April 1860 in Edinburgh.

Art[edit]

He was a student at the Trustees' Academy from 1849 to 1852.

Death[edit]

He died on 7 May 1882 in Edinburgh.
