May Devlin (31 May 1896 - 23 March 1962) was a Scottish painter.[1]

Life[edit]

Her father was Robert Devlin (c. 1860 - 20 April 1928), a plasterer from Randalstown in Antrim.

Her mother was Annie Brownhill (c. 1860 - 21 May 1928) from Montreal, Canada. Robert and Annie married on 30 June 1893 in Richmond Hill, Queens, New York.

Mary Devlin, known as May, was born on 31 May 1896 in Dumbarton.[2]

She married Alex Fulton Dale (8 August 1891 - 12 December 1944) from Beith, Ayrshire, in St Columba's Church of Scotland, Pont Street, London on 14 January 1935.

Death[edit]

She died on 23 March 1962 in Joppa, Edinburgh. The funeral was three days later, on 26 March 1962 in Newton Mearns, East Renfrewshire.
