James Walls (30 June 1860 - 16 December 1918) was a Scottish painter.

Life[edit]

His father was the artist John Walls (born 18 October 1834 - September 1911), from Charlestown, Fife.[1]

His mother was Catherine Milne (30 June 1838 - August 1911) from Dunfermline. Catherine was the second daughter of the baker Thomas Milne. John and Catherine married in Bruce Street, Dunfermline on 16 April 1858.[2]

John and Catherine moved to Stirling and stayed at 35 Murray Place.

James Walls was born in Dunfermline on 30 June 1860.

He married Catherine Morrison (c. 1865 - 25 September 1953), from Crail. They married in 1889 in Muckhart, Clackmannanshire.

Death[edit]

He was stuck by a train and died on 16 December 1918. He was crossing the line to a platform for the Crombie Ordnance Works at Dunfermline.[3] His grave is in Dunfermline Cemetery 2.[4]

His gravestone was erected by the employees of the Naval Ordnance depot at Crombie.
