Floris Mary Gillespie (25 June 1882 - 10 February 1967) was a Scottish painter.[1][2]

Life[edit]

Her father was William Peter Gillespie (31 March 1841 - 2 July 1904), a teacher from Falkirk.

Her mother was Isabella Thomson (c. 1842 - 9 May 1921) from Paisley. William and Isabella married on 23 January 1868 at Paisley Abbey.

Floris Mary Gillespie was born 25 June 1882 at the schoolhouse in Bonnybridge, Stirlingshire.

Another two siblings in the family became artists: Alexander Bryson Gillespie and Janetta Susan Gillespie.

Death[edit]

She died on 10 February 1967 in Edinburgh. Her usual address was at 37 Dreghorn Loan, Colinton, Edinburgh.
