James Thompson Lauder (30 May 1806 - 9 October 1851) was a Scottish painter. He was born in Kirkintilloch.[1]

James Thompson Lauder married Rachel Currie (c.1806 - 28 March 1888) on 1 April 1838 in Glasgow. [1841 census - pattern designer][4]

Rachel's parents were Peter Currie and Ms. McArthur. Rachel dies in Barnhill Poorhouse (near Stobhill), her usual residence was at 165 Gairbraid Street. Her cause of death is marked as debility, a Victorian term: 'in old age due to loss of weight from undiagnosed cancer or other disorder'.[5]

They had a daughter Janet (born c. 1829); and a son Charles James (29 January 1841 - 27 April 1920).

He was listed as a pattern designer in Maryhill. [1842-1852][6]
