I'm currently (June 2007 to March 2008) on a major expedition - walking, packrafting and skiing 4000 miles from Seattle to the Aleutian Islands.

I spend a large portion of my time walking and packrafting through the remote Alaskan wilderness - about 3000 miles so far. So most of my contributions have been to Alaskan geography...

I am a co-founder of the organization Ground Truth Trekking, whose mission is to raise awareness of environmental issues through expeditions to threatened places - producing photos, stories, and informational resources that get at the "ground truth" of the issues.

One such trip was a 2006 expedition exploring the Pebble Mine proposal in Alaska, by following the watersheds downstream of the potential mine. (if it happens, it could be North America's largest open pit mine)

Our upcoming Seattle to Aleutian Islands expedition will focus on the broader issues facing North America's Pacific Coast - the decline of salmon, clear cutting the temperate rain forest, resource extraction (metals, coal, oil, and gas), and global warming
