From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Pianist is a Girl are a British acoustic pop/rock duo from Greater Manchester. The duo formed in November 2018 when lead vocalist/guitarist Alan Roper and pianist/guitarist and backing vocalist Leah Cowan decided to jam together in one of the rehearsal rooms located in Oldham College. The duo are best known for their original songs, such as "Today Tonight Tomorrow" and "Everything Is Wrong" and their popular cover of "Don't Look Back In Anger" by Oasis. The duo went on to headline the "End Of Year Showcase" at the Grange Theatre in 2018.

Due to popular belief; the name "The Pianist is a Girl" is based on the fact that Leah Cowan closely resembles a boy with her iconic short hair but Alan Roper has since shot down these rumors by stating: "When I first came up with the name, I didn't mean for it to stick. It was kind of a joke at first but then we looked at each other and thought that it was so original, so we just couldn't change it. But yeah in no way does it mean Leah looks like a boy."
