The Chinese Language: Fact and Fantasy[edit]

One user, who I'll refer to as User:ㄏㄨㄤㄉㄧ, has the opinion that John DeFrancis' theories, as described in The Chinese Language: Fact and Fantasy, are "lies", and tries to insert a "rebuttal" section saying as much (at length). Since the rebuttal section is his pet theory, and badly sourced, with the sources apparently not referring to DeFrancis at all, I'm reverting it.

He has also been banned indefinitely for incivility (see block log), is now banned for sockpuppetry (see user page), and is now using IP-hopping as his preferred editing methods. He seems to be using a NYC Verizon dialup mechanism for his hopping - all the blocks are marked "Verizon Internet Services VZ-DSLDIAL-NYCMNY" in WHOIS.

After raising the issue on WP:AN, [MzMcBride cautioned against rangeblocks], so I guess we currently don't have any effective measures against vandalism from people with this kind of access.

As of November 19, the user seems to have switched back to creating accounts for his editing - see Yudfdjls (talk · contribs), RomanizationHomophoneDisastor (talk · contribs), and Martimartis (talk · contribs) for examples.
